Marketing Your Home During The Holidays
It’s a common belief that homes do not sell during the holidays. Many prospective sellers shy away from listing their homes at this time for fear the market will be slow. But the truth is – homes do sell during the holidays!
It is true there may not be as many active buyers this time of year, but there are also fewer homes on the market – so less competition. Overall about the same percentage of active homes sell in November and December as the preceding months of September and October.
At any time of year there are always people who will need to move for one reason or another. The beginning of a new year is a common time for job transfers. During the holidays there is a fair amount of relocation house hunting.
Many potential sellers also worry about possible interruptions during holiday events. Buyers at this time of year have a tendency to be more focused. You will likely experience having fewer lookers but those that do preview will be more serious about purchasing. It’s also okay to explain to a buyer that due to a scheduled holiday event you would prefer they preview your home at another time.
The holidays are also a great opportunity to use decorations and staging to give your home an appealing, warm first impression when buyers step in from the cold.
